Chocolate Word Search

For the chocoholics โ€” our chocolate word search hides everything cocoa, from a smooth TRUFFLE to a gooey BROWNIE, in a grid of letters. Pick a difficulty and indulge.

A treat from bean to bar

Chocolate starts as a humble bean and ends as pure joy, and this word search gathers it all. You'll track down the building blocks โ€” COCOA and CACAO โ€” and the forms we love them in: a snapped-off BAR, a single CHIP, a melt-in-the-mouth TRUFFLE and a gooey BROWNIE.

Each puzzle pulls a fresh selection from the list, so the box changes every time you play โ€” gentle on Easy, and a Hard-mode treat once the diagonals and backwards words appear.

Dark, white and gooey

Chocolate comes in every shade and style. Choose DARK or WHITE, bite into a BONBON, PRALINE or HAZELNUT treat, or dig into a chocolate MOUSSE, a slice of red VELVET, or a spoonful of NUTELLA. There's CARAMEL swirled through, a SPRINKLE on top, a smooth GANACHE filling and a MELTED CHUNK for baking โ€” just mind the WRAPPER.

From bean to bar

Chocolate grows on the cacao tree, which produces big pods full of beans near the equator โ€” in places like West Africa and South America. To turn those bitter beans into chocolate, they're fermented, dried, roasted and ground into a rich paste, then mixed with sugar (and, for milk chocolate, milk).

That's also the difference between the types: DARK chocolate has lots of cocoa solids and less sugar, milk chocolate has more milk and sugar, and WHITE chocolate has no cocoa solids at all โ€” just cocoa butter, milk and sugar. Long ago, the ancient Maya and Aztecs drank chocolate as a bitter, spiced drink and even used the precious CACAO beans as money.

A sweet activity for any age

It's a fun fit for a treat-themed lesson or a rainy afternoon โ€” Easy mode keeps the grid small with no diagonals or reverse words.
