How something so heavy stays up
The real magic of flight is the WING. A plane's wings are specially curved so that air rushing over the top moves faster than the air underneath, and that difference creates an upward push called lift. Once the ENGINE β a PROPELLER or a JET TURBINE β drives the plane fast enough down the RUNWAY, the wings make enough lift to beat gravity and the plane climbs to ALTITUDE. It sounds impossible that something as heavy as a loaded airliner can fly, but the same principle lifts everything from a paper plane to a BOEING.
