Mother's Day Word Search

For the best MUM in the world. Our Mother's Day word search hides all the ways we say thank you, from a fresh BOUQUET to BREAKFAST in bed, in a grid of letters. Pick a difficulty and show you care.

A day to say thank you

Mother's Day is a chance to spoil the special MOTHER in our lives, and this word search gathers the ways we do it. You'll track down the classic gifts โ€” a BOUQUET of FLOWERS, ROSES and TULIPS, a box of CHOCOLATES, a heartfelt CARD and a thoughtful GIFT.

Each puzzle pulls a fresh selection from the list, so the day changes every time you play โ€” gentle on Easy, and a Hard-mode challenge once the diagonals and backwards words appear.

Love, hugs and a lie-in

Mother's Day is really about showing love, and the words are here. Treat MUM to BREAKFAST in bed or a special BRUNCH, PAMPER and SPOIL her, give plenty of HUGS, and gather the whole FAMILY. It's a day to be GRATEFUL, to APPRECIATE and CHERISH her, and to show the KINDNESS and CARING she shows every day โ€” with all your LOVE.

Two histories, one idea

Mother's Day as we know it was largely the work of an American woman named Anna Jarvis, who campaigned for a national day to honour mothers after her own mother died; it became an official US holiday in 1914. She chose the carnation, her mother's favourite, as its FLOWER โ€” though today any BOUQUET will do.

In Britain and Ireland the day grew from a much older tradition called Mothering Sunday, when people would return to their main local 'mother church' during Lent โ€” and often see their families along the way. That's why the date differs around the world: the UK marks it in spring during Lent, while the US, Australia and many others celebrate in May. Wherever it falls, the idea is the same: a day to say thank you to MUM.
