St Patrick's Day Word Search

Top o' the morning to ya! Our St Patrick's Day word search hides the luck of the Irish, from a lucky SHAMROCK to a mischievous LEPRECHAUN, in a grid of letters. Pick a difficulty and chase the rainbow.

The luck of the Irish

St Patrick's Day paints the world GREEN every MARCH, and this word search gathers the fun. You'll track down the symbols everyone knows โ€” the SHAMROCK and four-leaf CLOVER, the mischievous LEPRECHAUN, and the POT OF GOLD at the end of the RAINBOW.

Each puzzle pulls a fresh selection from the list, so the parade changes every time you play โ€” gentle on Easy, and a Hard-mode hunt once the diagonals and backwards words appear.

A celebration of Ireland

The day is a proud celebration of all things IRISH, and it's here. Travel to IRELAND and its capital DUBLIN, kiss the BLARNEY stone, listen to a CELTIC HARP and dance a lively JIG. There's the EMERALD Isle, a noisy PARADE and FESTIVAL, the playful LIMERICK rhyme, the LUCKY charms, and a friendly PINCH if you forget to wear green.

Who was Saint Patrick?

Behind the LEPRECHAUNS and the colour GREEN is a real person. PATRICK was a Christian missionary who lived in the 5th century and became the patron saint of IRELAND. According to tradition he used the three leaves of the SHAMROCK to explain an idea to the people he taught, which is how the little plant became the day's most famous symbol. The holiday falls on 17 MARCH, the date marking his death.

What began as a quiet religious feast day has grown into a huge worldwide celebration of Irish culture. Cities far from IRELAND throw enormous PARADEs โ€” Chicago even dyes its river bright green โ€” and millions of people wear green, listen to CELTIC music and enjoy the festivities, whether they're Irish or not.
