A global phenomenon
K-pop took over the world from its home in KOREA, and this word search gathers its language. You'll be finding the words every fan knows β the IDOL groups, the COMEBACK that drops a new song, the FANDOM that supports them, and the glowing LIGHTSTICK they wave at concerts.
Each puzzle pulls a fresh selection from the list, so the stage changes every time you play β gentle on Easy, and a Hard-mode concert once the diagonals and backwards words appear.
From trainee to debut
K-pop has a whole vocabulary of its own. Follow an artist from TRAINEE to DEBUT, learn the roles in a LINEUP β the VISUAL, the MAKNAE, the RAPLINE and the lead VOCAL β and pick your BIAS to STAN. There's the cute AEGYO, the sharp CHOREO, the chart-topping ALLKILL, the FANCHANT the crowd sings, and the HALLYU wave that carried it all from SEOUL, written in HANGUL, around the globe.
Years of training behind every group
Behind a polished K-pop IDOL group lies an extraordinary amount of work. Most members are recruited young and spend years as a TRAINEE at an entertainment company β singing, rapping, dancing and even learning languages for hours every day β before they ever DEBUT. Each member is given a role in the LINEUP, such as the lead VOCAL, the RAPLINE or the youngest 'MAKNAE', and groups make a planned COMEBACK every few months with a fresh CONCEPT, a new look and sound built around a theme.
The other half of K-pop's success is its fans. A FANDOM can be hugely organised, streaming songs to chart-topping numbers, learning the FANCHANT to shout at exactly the right moments, and waving a colour-coded LIGHTSTICK that turns a stadium into a sea of light. This whole wave of Korean pop culture β known as HALLYU β has carried groups like BTS and Blackpink from SEOUL to the top of charts worldwide, which makes K-pop a great, lively topic for a lesson on world pop and culture.
